THE UNRESTRAINED • BOOK 5
The Inheritance
What kind of world will be passed on?
Book Five of The Unrestrained. The struggle turns toward the world the survivors will hand to the next generation.

A preview of the questions ahead
The Inheritance is Book Five in the planned arc of The Unrestrained. Its title turns the series toward a responsibility that reaches beyond the immediate crisis: the world that today’s choices leave to the people who come after us.
Survival can consume every available hour. A community may become so accustomed to emergency decisions that it stops asking which of its habits should endure. Yet children inherit habits and examples as surely as they inherit land, tools, and stories.
What will the next generation receive?
The thematic concerns of this volume include stewardship, family, continuity, and the cost of preserving something worth passing on. A community must consider whether its institutions teach responsibility or merely dependence on particular personalities.
The question reaches into ordinary life. What kind of work receives honor? How do people treat weakness? What do children learn when adults explain a difficult decision? The future takes shape through those repeated actions as well as through moments of visible courage.
