The Foundations
What will order be built on?
Book Four of The Unrestrained. The struggle to rebuild raises a deeper question: what can an enduring social order rest upon?

A preview of the questions ahead
The Foundations is the fourth volume in the planned six-book arc of The Unrestrained. Its place in that arc turns attention toward the beliefs beneath a community’s decisions: what makes an order just, what gives authority its limits, and what people are willing to accept in exchange for security.
A settlement may agree that it wants peace while disagreeing deeply about the kind of peace it should build. The language of faith, liberty, or efficiency can conceal mistaken assumptions about people and power.
What can bear the weight of rebuilding?
The thematic direction of this volume examines answers that promise too much: identity turned into an excuse for contempt, independence that refuses every obligation, and technical competence treated as sufficient authority to govern a human life.
The series’ Christian perspective asks readers to judge those promises by a more demanding understanding of human dignity, sin, responsibility, and accountable rule. Material recovery alone cannot answer the question of what a society ought to become.
