THE UNRESTRAINED • BOOK 3
The Lines
Survival built the refuge. Now power is coming for the roads beyond it.
The survivors at Apple Orchard have endured violence, betrayal, and the collapse of the institutions they trusted. As outside pressure grows, the boundaries between security, expansion, justice, and vengeance become harder to hold.

The refuge has a boundary. Responsibility is harder to contain.
The survivors at Apple Orchard have learned that a defensible place cannot stand entirely apart from the world around it. Roads connect people, supplies, obligations, and threats. Pressure beyond the refuge forces Daniel Mercer and his community to consider what defending their future will require.
Survival has given them something to preserve. It has also given them power. Decisions about security can reach people who never agreed to live under their authority, and the desire to prevent another loss can make dangerous choices sound reasonable.
When protection becomes a harder question
The Lines continues the series’ combination of action, practical survival, and Christian moral conflict. Its concerns include loyalty, justice, vengeance, and the limits a community must recognize as it responds to outside pressure.
The characters need more than resolve. They need sound judgment about the difference between a danger they must confront and a fear they are allowing to govern them. They must live with the effects of what they choose, including effects on people whose needs are easy to overlook.
Book Three of The Unrestrained
Read High Ground and The Compact first. The Lines continues the same unfolding story, with relationships and conflicts that develop across the earlier books.
Readers can expect serious danger, practical detail woven through the characters’ work, and a widening view of what rebuilding asks from a community. The story’s central question is how people will defend what matters without allowing the struggle to deform it.
